Song of The Cedars

Song of the Cedars foi criada em conjunto por quatro humanos — o músico Cosmo Sheldrake, o escritor Robert Macfarlane, o jurista César Rodríguez-Garavito e a micologista Giuliana Furci — e uma floresta nublada, a Floresta de Los Cedros, no Equador. Com a assistência crucial da organização equatoriana Celid Plural, uma petição legal foi protocolada no escritório equatoriano de direitos autorais, buscando o reconhecimento da Floresta de Los Cedros como autora da Canção dos Cedros, juntamente com os quatro autores humanos. Ao fazê-lo, essa colaboração musical e jurídica busca desafiar a lei de direitos autorais centrada no ser humano e honrar o papel criativo da natureza. (mothrights.org)

Song of the Cedars was jointly created by four humans—the musician Cosmo Sheldrake, the writer Robert Macfarlane, the legal scholar César Rodríguez-Garavito, and the mycologist Giuliana Furci—and a cloud forest, namely the Los Cedros Forest in Ecuador. With the crucial assistance of the Ecuadorian organization Celid Plural, a legal petition was filed with the Ecuadorian copyright office, seeking to have the Los Cedros Forest recognized as an author of the Song of the Cedars along with the four human authors. In doing so, this musical and legal collaboration seeks to challenge human-centered copyright law and honor nature’s creative role. (mothrights.org)
