Route designed for crossing the sea and river.

Salvador - Morro de Sao Paulo - Gamboa - Camamu Bay / Goió Island - Maraú - Tremembé

Salvador .png

I left Salvador early in the morning, by sea, on a catamaran to go to Morro de São Paulo.

There I was ready for another adventure. A suitcase with the necessary things to be on a boat, little clothes, notebooks-diaries, made especially for the trip in partnership by di.Versa;  and materials to draw, paint and record the days that would be on board. In the support campaign , several partnerships emerged, among them, going as a commissioner registering for the EAGER JOURNAL an online platform, created by Ross Belfer, which presents original photo essays taken exclusively in film photography formats by collaborators worldwide.

Each residence is unique. For those who don't know it's an art residency, basically it's about going to live an experience for a certain time, in another place, it can be an artist's studio, a gallery, museum, in the countryside, or why not, on a boat.

In the words of others:

“A residency experience can generate a reflection, an adoption of new paradigms in the artist's creative production, without necessarily generating an object, a product at that historical moment. The residencies function both as incubators of initiatives, aesthetics, reflections in contemporary art, as they can mean oxygenation or a new injection of spirit in the arts, knowledge and traditional practices.”

The artist residencies are:
• Organized and sufficient time, space and resources
• Activators of the creative process
• Reflection of its lexical meaning as "an act of living in a place"
• Based on clear mutual responsibility, experimentation, exchange and dialogue
• Engaged with context connecting the local to the global
•Crucial for the arts ecosystem

• Bridge mechanisms between different artistic disciplines and non-artistic sectors
• Tools for intercultural understanding and empowerment
• Essential opportunities for professional and personal development
• Catalysts for global mobility
• Encounters with the unknown
• Profile survey with immediate and ongoing artistic, social and economic impact
• Important contributors to cultural policy and cultural diplomacy

I arrived in Morro de São Paulo in the morning. Then I took a speedboat to go to Gamboa, the beach where the Mintaka and the Pirates of Love were anchored. She is a magician, with a delicious laugh and always willing to teach her infinite knowledge in the kitchen. She is Maitê's mother and has always taken care of our food, taking the best brands of ingredients, seasonings, chocolates, cleaning and beauty products. Bru arrived from Florianópolis with a suitcase FULL of food, in the end it was her creation materials and magic.

Where to Anchor? It was my first question when I got on the boat. Knowing where and how to anchor is an art that requires presence, precision and courage. Here's an inspiring podcast from the pirate Arraia, talking about da AN-courage.

We left in the morning with light rain from Gamboa beach. It was my first crossing on the high seas sailing in a sailing boat. On the way out we had to sail with the engine for some time, the wind was against and the tide was too. Entering the high seas, we started sailing. Feeling of being in an immensity of deep blue freedom. The silence of sailing with the wind is music that remains in the body.

The body loses the reference of balance and for it to come back, we have to stare at the horizon; that utopia I so longed for was there for me, calming me down. Watching the horizon during a crossing on the high seas soothes the soul and the body. I lay down a few times, but I didn't vomit. Going to the bathroom was astral hell, everything went around inside me.

The crossing was magical, between conversations about books, films and possible projects. Before leaving, I braided each crew member's hair, holding everything tight to be present at sea.

We were finally entering Camamu Bay at 4:40 pm, with gray rain clouds and the orange-pink sun setting over the water.

Cosmic Jellyfish sang to their sea songs and we all smiled to be there living this adventure together. The magic exists.

We anchored in the middle between the island of Goió and some other mangrove land. We celebrate our arrival, amidst laughter and plankton in the sea-river. Conquer the world with love. Love piracy.

We left early in the morning, under the rain, from Playa de Gamboa, it was my first crossing on the sea, sailing on a sailboat. On the way out, we had to sail with the motor, the wind was overturned and the sea also. When we set sail on the high seas, we start sailing with sail. Sensation of being in a deep blue expanse of freedom. The silence of navigating with the wind is music that remains in the body.

The body loses the balance reference. So that you have to look at the horizon; this utopia that so much anhelaba was there for me, reassuring me. Observing the horizon while sailing on the high seas, calm the soul and the body will return to its center. I lay down a couple of times, but I didn't vomit. Going to the bathroom was an astral hell, all the rage inside me.

The cross was magical, between conversations of books, films and possible projects. Before departing, we train the hair of each crew member, keeping it firm and firm to be present at sea. Finally, we were entering Camamú Bay at 4:40 pm, with gray clouds of rain and the pink sun setting over the water.

Aguaviva cósmica sang its songs from the sea and we all smile for being present living this adventure together. La magic exists, it dwells among us.

We anclamos in the middle between the island of Goió and some other manglar. We celebrate our arrival, between laughs and planktons in the sea. Conquer the world with love. Piracy of love.

Maraú .png
Algodões .png

We followed the river to reach Maraú with the sun setting in the sky. The crossing through the Serra River was calmer than the sea. Calm and sweet waters, still with a little salt. Mangroves and palm trees everywhere. I had the opportunity to take the helm of the boat for an hour, it was exciting to feel the power of taking a Ser Boat.
It was a fun crossing, between laughter, singing and water around, it seemed to be in a dream. A dream within a dream. We anchored in front of Argila beach.

The next day we went to Maraú, a town of fishermen and beautiful canoes. Then we took a car to go to Algodões, the first beach on the Maraú peninsula. We arrived at Sitio do Outeiro , where we ate the best açaí ever, grown, harvested and made by Márcio and Marisa. Remembrance of the future, mirrors of the soul. Grow your own food, walk barefoot on the land, take care of the flowers, watch the sun rise and set, have the sea and the river to navigate, feel that we are nature.

We walk with Márcio through his forest where he grows açaí, banana, guarana, cana brava, pau do Brasil and bamboo, among other beauties. Remembrance of the past, na  Residencia en la Tierra (Colombia) project and place of utopias that were possible. Márcio grows guadua, a large bamboo grown in the eje cafetero region of Colombia. He knew the work and work of the Colombian architect  Simon Vélez .

Memories of my friends Fátima, Daniel, Pedro, Sebastián, Alicia and Salomón, who walked together for four years to make possible a  Residencia en la Tierra,  creation experience collective where we live with artists from around the world making art in the middle of the mountains.

We continue our walk on land to buy at the Algodões agroecological fair and take fresh food to the boat.  We returned home at night, happy to know that our home was the sea.

We followed the river to reach Maraú with the sun poniéndose in the sky. The cross on the Serra da Serra was more peaceful than the cross on the sea. Calm and sweet waters, with a little salt. Mangroves and palm trees everywhere. I had the opportunity to take the wheel of the boat for an hour, it was exciting to feel the power of driving a boat. It was a fun cross, between laughs, songs and water around, it seemed like a sueño. A sueño within a sueño. We set out opposite La Playa de la Argila.

The next day we head to Maraú, a town of fishermen and beautiful canoes. We took a car to go to Algodões, the first beach on the Maraú peninsula. We arrived at Sitio do Outeiro , where we ate the best açaí in our lives, cultivated, harvested and prepared by Márcio and Marisa. Memory of the future, mirrors of the soul. Grow your own food, walk barefoot around the land, take care of the flowers and the trees, look out for salt and put on the sun, have the sea and the river to navigate, feel that we are natural.

We walk with Márcio through the forest where he grows açaí, plantains, guarana, caña brava, pau Brasil and bamboo, among other beauties. Traveling in the past, remembering  Residency in Tierra (Colombia) project and place of many utopias that were possible. Márcio grows guadua, a large bamboo that grows in the region of the Colombian coffee plantation. Know the wonderful work of the Colombian architect Simón Vélez . Recollections of my friends Fátima, Daniel, Pedro, Sebastián, Alicia and Salomón, who we walked together for four years to make the Residencia en la Tierra possible, an experience of collective creation where we live with artists from all over the world making art in the middle of them mountains.

We continue our trip around the country to buy at the Algodões agro ecological fair and take fresh food on the boat. We returned to casa de noche, happy to know that our home was el mar.

Tatu.png

We arrived at Ilha do Tatú, a magical place in the middle of the sea. We anchored in front of one of the beaches. It would be days of great freedom on an island that was just us. We would finally make the long-awaited Mesa Viva.

Every day I woke up with the sun, 5:30 am, sometimes a little earlier, in an immensity of silence and water.

I liked to go to the bow and start moving my body. I danced to the sea every day, some days being wind, others being water or being a boat; inhabiting the small spaces inside and outside my body. Sometimes accompanied by the music of Águaviva, who slowly arrived and began to play the guitar and sing. I enjoyed de designing your songs, feeling the music, transforming it into a line.

In those days I noticed the simplicity of living. The simplicity of solitude and being taken by my body alone to places I wanted to explore. I've had this idea in my head for a while, the idea of being carried away only by the strength of my legs and arms, guided by the observer's gaze of the offal and also of the great forces of nature; and by the intuition of knowing that other beings take care of my existence. I am secure if my body is firm and anchored in my center.

I ask myself if the crisis we are going through at the moment, is a collective creation, in response to a society where connection with nature is measure for her usefulness and abuse.

In these days where the experience of being alive is even more valued, we celebrated life, preparing a  Mesa Viva, an experience in connection with nature, where food is_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_medicine for our body and soul. Idea and project da maga, Bruna Hey, who was the captain of this action. All the crew ready to cut, draw, record, pick plants, cook and eat the delicacies made by ourselves. Chocolates from Magian Cacao , AMMA , delicacies from Bioporã and bread from pirate Rai were some of the many delights. That day we met fisherman Ze, who presented us with a delicious and fresh fish. Captain Brok was in charge of seasoning it with Yamuna 's pasta   and then roasting it on the grill, the best of fish! Dançamos in the light of_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_moonlight with plankton in the water.
The sky lending the shooting stars to the sea.

I made coles and I had an encounter with a piece of tile that records the exact landscape of Ilha do Tatú, full of mystical palm trees, visited only by canoes and boats, taking and bringing, we, the Humans. Future and Past Memories Encounters.

Explosion of beauty, desire e life.

We arrived at Isla Tatú, a magical place in the middle of the river. Anclamos in front of una de sus playas. These would be the days of great freedom on a solo island inhabited by nosotros. Finally we would have la tan expected Mesa Viva.

Every day I woke up with the sun, at 5:30 am, sometimes a little earlier, in an immense amount of silence and water. Me gustaba ir a la proa y empezar a mover mi cuerpo, danzando para el río-mar. Algunos días me imaginaba siendo_cc781905-5cde- 3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_viento, agua Sometimes I have a boat, inhabiting the small spaces inside and outside my body. A veces mis practicas were accompanied eng la Música de Águaviva, quien llega sing guitar laba con poníazay llega sing a guitar laba con poníazayd_llega I liked drawing your songs, feeling the music, transforming it online.

In these days, the simplicity of living is notable. The simplicity of solitude, the idea of being carried away by the strength of my legs and arms, impulsada por la mirada attentive en las pequeñas cosas y_cc781905 bb3b-136bad5cf58d_en the intense powers of nature. Follow la intuition of knowing that other beings take care of my existence and that I am safe con mi cuerpo_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bade firme micf5yd.

Me pregunto si la idea de crisis que estamos viviendo, es una creación colectiva en respuesta a una sociedad donde the connection with the naturalness se mide por la utilidad y el abuse.

In these days where it is valued aún more the experience of being alive, we celebrated life preparing the Living Table, an experience in connection with nature, where food is medicine for our body and soul. Idea and life project of the maga Bruna Hey, who was the captain of this action. All equipment ready to cut, sketch, record, recover plants, cook and eat the delicious delicacies for our other mismos. Chocolates from the Magian Cacao , AMMA , delicacies from Biopor ã y panes de la Pirate Rai made some of the many delicacies. This day we met the fisherman Ze, who offered us fresh and delicious fish. The captain was in charge of seasoning it with the Yamuna masala, for cooking it a la grill. We dance under the light de la luna with planktons in the water.

Maraú .png
Argila .png

We returned to Maraú after four days on Ilha do Tatú. The crossing was different, even though the destination was already known. The sun accompanied our journey. He shone and the water of the sea-river was happier. We anchor in front of Argila beach, where there is a natural fresh water source where all the people of the region arrive de canoe or boat to get water. Small mountains of colored clays surrounded by mangroves, canoes coloring the landscape and the tide carrying and bringing leaves, sand and sometimes a plastic bottle, an invasive species of the sea and rivers.

We could swim to the edge of the beach. I went to the mountain  to study the colors of the clays, I noticed each layer, purple, yellow, red, pink, white and gray. I felt that time stopped and I became part of the mountain. To be a mountain, to be clay, to be earth. It was midday and the sun was burning our skin. Inside the mountain it looked like the temperature was half of what it was outside, in my desire to become a mountain, I dug a deep hole to get white clay, it was cold and refreshing. We took a clay bath, Jaya, Pirata Arraia and I, feeling the mountain's freshness humans. Days of learning with the body, swimming, running, training, dancing, meditate. Strong body for a peaceful and happy mind. Freedom to be outside and be one with all that surrounds us .

Bruna had gotten off the boat the day before. For the farewell we had a celebration com cacau where we all became children licking our faces full of chocolate. It was the first farewell on board, with deep words and feelings found.

Drawings, words, music, food, desire to live, but one day on this earth-sea planet.

We return to Maraú after four days on Ilha do Tatú. The crossing was different, even though the destination was known. The sun accompanies our travel. Brillaba and the water of the río-mar were happier. We anchor in front of Playa de Argila, where there is a natural source of fresh water from where everyone from the region can use the boat to fetch water. Small mountains of colored clay surrounded by mangroves, canoes coloring the landscape and the sea taking and traying today, arena and on occasions a plastic bottle, an invasive species of the seas and rivers.

We could swim up to the orilla. I went to the mountain to study the colors of the arcillas, noté cada capa, morado, amarillo, rojo, rosa, blanco y gris. I felt that the time was paralyzed and I returned to the mountain. See mountain, see clay, see land. It was mediodía y el sol nos quemaba la piel. Inside the mountain I felt that the temperature was the middle of what was outside, in my desire to convert into a mountain, I found a deep hoyo to obtain white clay, it was cold and refreshing. We bathe in clay, Jaya, Pirata Arraia and yo, feeling the freshness of the mountain, we talk about relationships, love and human desires. Body learning days, swimming, running, training, dancing, meditating. Strong body for a peaceful and happy mind. Freedom from being outside and being one with everything around us.

Tremembe (1).png

We left Maraú towards Tremembé, in the river. The sailing was beautiful, always waiting for the wind to arrive, this time, being carried by the force of the tide. Ancoramos na half of the river, between several islands of mangroves and palm trees. The water was getting sweeter and darker with a lot of current. I just swam around the boat, afraid of the beings under the water, I like more the clear and salty waters . We celebrated a our arrival, it was my last days on board.

Feeling the water sway when sleeping was like being inside some other body and visiting my dreams.

Waking up at dawn to to pee and look to the sky, sometimes with stars, sometimes with rain, eat, swim, run without clothes, wearing the real clothes: our skin; are sensations that were recorded in my internal journals.

The Tremembé waterfalls were strong and sweet waters. Let the water leve all that does not belong to us. After entering the water I felt like just contemplating and drawing its movement.

Frozen time onde viro invisible e I can capture the essence of nature's movement.  In Tremembé we were guided by several special people from the canoes that took us to the waterfalls, the boy guide who took us to visit Tremembé, in search of fresh fish and the meetings com_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-13d6bad_people who believe in other forms of life and humanity, cultivating their own vegetable garden and friendly fish.

We arrived on the boat and the afternoon was full of painting and drawing, grilled fish and a night of laughter and music surrounded by water and fluorescent stars in the new moon sky. Manifesting our next pirate encounter: destino Salvador, to produce the beauties created together aboard the Ser Boat. -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_

Salimos de Maraú hacia Tremembé, río abajo. The navigation was precious, always waiting for the wind to arrive, this time dejándose llevar por la fuerza de la marea. We founded in the middle of the river, between several islands of manglares and palm trees. The water was becoming more sweet and dark with much current. I am alone in the vicinity of the boat, afraid of being under the water, I like more clear water and salads.

We celebrate our arrival, our last days on board.

Feeling the balance of water while sleeping was like being inside another body and visiting my sueños. Awakening at dawn to dream and look at the sky, sometimes with stars, sometimes with rain, swim, run, eat, sleep without clothes, with real ropa: nuestra piel; There are sensations that were recorded in internal diaries. We are a family owned and operated business.

The Tremembé waterfalls were strong and sweet. Dejando que el agua se llevara todo que no nos belongs. After entering the water, you simply want to contemplate and sketch your movement.
