Mother Other is a book that is part of the MOTH project, More-Than-Human Life Project, of the Research and Action Program for the Rights of Nature, carried out by the New York University School of Law. The work refers to "Mother Other" and is a journey into a dreamlike universe with colorful illustrations of beings of various types and sizes. It is a story in which the beginning is the end and the end is the beginning, inspired by 'more-than-human' lives.
A Mother being as a Ship being.
Living in the belly of life.
Leaving and returning to it,
dancing through.
How many lives do you live as a Mother?
How many Others are in a Mother?
Mother Other is a story in which the beginning is the end and the end is the beginning. It is an invitation to play with the book, with the story, finding images inside images, macrocosmos inside microcosmos. It is an invitation to live it and in it. A river being, a sea being, bird beings, cells beings, bacteria, fungi, ants, whales, elephants.
This book is part of a living organism:
MOTH, the More Than Human Life Project, a collective of human and more-than-human beings, lawyers, Indigenous leaders, musicians, writers, artists, journalists, and scientists; born with the idea of adding different lives and bodies around the movement to deepen and expand frameworks to better include more-than-human life.
This book was commissioned by the NYU MOTH Project as part of its interdisciplinary fellowship program.
